Having developed the motorsport bug at an early age
it was a natural progression for Malcolm to turn his
hand to photography. Starting as a non-professional
photographer at the tender age of 14, Malcolm concentrated
on the national motorsport scene developing a distinct
and individual style. Extensive developing and printing
including portfolio work followed.
The break for Malcolm came at an F1 event in the UK
(Brands Hatch, European Grand Prix) when at the age
of 16 he captured his first F1 crash sequence, involving
the big stars of the day. These photos have been included
in the archive section of the site. Malcolm turned his
attention to working as a freelance photographer covering
the international F1 events and continued to further
develop his distinct style. An extensive archive exists
of all his motorsport work since 1979.
Malcolms work has been published in the majority of
Irish daily newspapers including some of the international
specialists motoring press and even in Hello Magazine!
As Chief Photographer and Deputy Editor of “Car
and Bike Illustrated”, Malcolm continued to cover
some of major international events as one of the only
Irish International FIM registered photographers. This
interest and enthusiasm has helped Malcolm move to the
specialised field of Digital Photography. Further development
with this site and Donnellan Photographic will be evident
throughout the coming months.
