A keen photographer and motor racing fan, Jim has
covered all forms of motorsport from the late ‘40s
starting with the Empire Trophy Races at Ballyclare,
the Leinster Trophy races at Tallaght and motorcycle
racing throughout the 32 counties.
In the early ‘60s Jim set up Eurosport Productions
with the main focus on covering international two and
four wheel motorsport events in the UK and on the Continent.
It’s initial focus was on still images.
From 1961 onwards the company expanded into Cine Film
and as a result Jim has extensive coverage of both motorcycle
and motorcar racing. It is one of the largest private
collections of motorsport Cine Film in Ireland. The
list covers both the glory days of Irish motorsport,
including a large number of veteran and vintage runs,
and some of the greats of the international scene in
both Formula 1 and endurance racing. Events that have
since disappeared from the national and international
calendar have been recorded for posterity. As an Honorary
member of the Royal Irish Automobile Club Archive Jim
is called upon to show a number of these rare films
every year to large audiences and to critical acclaim.
During the late ‘80s Jim, with his son Malcolm,
launched the very successful motorsport Yearbook “Car
and Bike Illustrated”. It has covered all aspects
of the home motorsport racing scene including GP motorcycle
racing, F1 car racing, international and national rallying,
karting, motorcycle road racing, Isle Of Man TT races,
World Superbikes and the Le Man endurance classic.
It is the definitive motorsport yearbook.
